As publisher of the Thailand Art & Design Guide and co-owner of the Teo+Namfah Gallery, Brad Gordon entertains many visiting artists along with wife and partner, Rattana. They know the hot spots for post-show drinks and excellent places to unwind after a day spent contemplating the next addition to your art collection.
Aldo's
Level 7
The Ascott Sathorn Bangkok
187 South Sathorn Road
+66 2 676 6969
Named for famed post-impressionist artist Aldo Luongo, this Mediterranean bistro and wine bar boasts exceptional cuisine and ambience. “It's popular and stylish with a great atmosphere,” says Gordon, who recommends you get a table outside by the pool.
Cy'an
Metropolitan Hotel
27 South Sathorn Road
Bangkok 10120
+66 2 625 3388
“This restaurant has some of the freshest and highest quality ingredients in town,” says Gordon, who also appreciates the eatery's “super hip” setting within the Metropolitan Hotel. Dinners here are exceptional, but if you're looking to fuel up for a shopping excursion rather than wind down from one, try Cy'an for breakfast or lunch, perhaps on their open-air veranda.
Vertigo Grill & Moon Bar
Banyan Tree Bangkok
21/100 South Sathorn Road
Bangkok 10120
+66 2 679 1200
If your new acquisition doesn't provide enough of a natural high, Vertigo should do the trick. At 61 soaring stories above the city, the open-air views may leave you breathless. “It offers staggering views of the city,” Gordon says, “and is a regular stop for us with our international artists when they are in town.”
